His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, congratulated the winners of the elections for the sixth session of the Central Municipal Council.
His Excellency said in a tweet through his official account on the social networking site «Twitter»: «We congratulate all the winning candidates in the sixth session of the Municipal Council 2019.
He added, "We are waiting for them to contribute effectively to the service of the homeland and the citizen, in order to achieve the aspirations of our wise leadership and the Qatar National Vision 2030."

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister, chaired the regular meeting held by the Council on 17-04-2019, at its headquarters in the Emiri Diwan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the council praised the elections of the Central Municipal Council in its sixth session, which took place amid the demand of citizens.
The Council stressed that these elections, which were successfully completed, add a new asset to our experience in democratic practice in light of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, may God protect him.
The Council congratulated the winning members of the Central Municipal Council, wishing them success in serving their country.

Major General Majid Ibrahim Al-Khulaifi, head of the Supervisory Committee for the Central Municipal Council elections, announced that the number of citizens registered in the voters ’lists of both sexes reached 27,722 voters.
Major-General Al-Khulaifi said, during a press conference to announce the results of the elections - The total number of candidates for membership in the Central Municipal Council reached 85 candidates, including 5 women.
He added: The polling took place in 25 electoral districts, while 4 candidates won by acclamation in the 7, 22, 27 and 28 districts.
He pointed out that the number of those who cast their votes reached 13,300 and 34 voters, representing 50.1% of the number of voters.
The final results resulted in the following winners being a member of the Central Municipal Council.

His Excellency Major General Saad bin Jassem Al-Khulaifi, Director of Public Security, praised the keenness of male and female voters to participate in this electoral entitlement, stressing that the electoral process was conducted in an honorable and distinguished manner.
He also praised the distinguished presence of Qatari women in these elections, as voters and candidates, through the participation of five women in this experiment.
He said, "The participation of Qatari women in the elections of the Central Municipal Council represents a great support for the State of Qatar's orientation towards promoting women's rights and providing a way for them to play their role in society and provide opportunities through which they can contribute positively to the development of their country and serve their citizens and the people of its circle."
The Supervisory Committee of the elections at the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the voting process took place in an atmosphere of freedom and transparency, thanks to the growing societal awareness of sound democratic practice ... noting that the preparations that preceded the elections had a role in facilitating the task of the voters during the voting.
In turn, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Majid Al-Sulaiti, a member of the Supervisory Committee for Elections at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the polling process took place in accordance with the arrangements prepared by the committee, and did not record any observations or negatives throughout the polling day.
He added that all workers in the electoral districts are responsible, which contributed to the success of the voting process.

He explained that the Legal Committee for Elections carried out and is doing continuous work in cooperation with the Technical Committee for Elections in terms of ensuring the integrity of the ballot papers and the electronic work system inside the electoral headquarters, and responding to all legal inquiries received from the electoral committees with a view to the success of the elections.
Brigadier Abdul-Rahman Ali Al-Farahid Al-Maliki, head of the Technical Committee for Elections, indicated that the election supervisory committee has developed maps for the elections and made them available to citizens in more than one way on the website of the Ministry of Interior with the aim of introducing them to their electoral constituencies and to facilitate their access to electoral headquarters to vote in these elections.
Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al-Muftah, head of the Information Committee for Elections, said that the supervisory committee worked to conduct elections characterized by transparency, calmness, and an atmosphere full of freedom to express an opinion, and that the choice of the voter was better than who represented him in the central municipal council.
